SURVEY  COURSES

BASIC  SURVEYING

Computations  and  Field  Practices

This course introduces the textbook concepts of surveying combined with hands-on field practice with survey instruments. Established for construction oriented surveyors, this course provides training in both survey computations and actual equipment operations and field techniques.  The course assumes no previous background in surveying.  Equipment can either be provided by the host or supplied by REA.

The textbook used is “Elementary Surveying, 9th Edition” by Wolf and Brinker.  This is an excellent publication and each student will receive their own copy.

The course covers: Vertical and Horizontal data gathering; Traverse, Curve and Earthwork computations and Construction  staking.  The Course content will be adjusted to meet your specific needs, emphasizing the areas which you require.

INTERMEDIATE  SURVEYING

This course continues from where the Basic Surveying Course leaves off. The textbook is the same used in the Basic Course, which is a cost saving factor for previous students.  Prospective students should have a solid mathematical background especially in Algebra and Trigonometry since this course is primarily concerned with office calculations.  Areas, volumes, coordinate geometry and the propagation of random errors are some of the subjects covered.  Again, this course will be tailored to your specific needs.

ADVANCED  SURVEYING

This course is primarily targeted for the Land Line and Property surveyors.  Again, a solid mathematical background is necessary as well as surveying experience.  Subjects covered include: Surveys of the Public Lands, Control and Boundary Surveys and State Plane Coordinates.  We will tailor this course to your specific needs.  The textbook used is the same as the other two courses, Wolf and Brinker.

Costs for these courses are based upon location, number of students and whether or not textbooks are required.  Please call us and discuss your needs and we will be glad to quote you a cost for the course.

If held on your site, and you furnish the instruments as required, a substantial savings will accrue instead of REA having to furnish the equipment.
